Leeds Riverside regeneration has already taken shape. East Side and Southbank are quickly becoming the most desirable places to live in Leeds for young professionals.
Leeds Southbank Regeneration
The regeneration of Leeds Southbank will be the biggest change Leeds has seen in more than a hundred years. The scheme aims to double the size of Leeds City Centre as well as Leeds’ economy.
Southbank refers to a number of investments and proposed activities; all aiming to regenerate the 253 hectares of land that lies South of the River Aire in Leeds. South Bank will be transformed into a distinctive global destination for investment, living, learning, creativity and leisure.
Southbank is quickly earning the reputation of Leeds’ new hot-spot for people to both live and work. The development is home to some of Leeds’ major employers such as; Asda’s headquarters, Sky and a creative and digital cluster of 250 businesses. The vast amount of employers nearby and perfect location offer residents ideal City living.
A stone’s throw to the Waterfront and cultural hubs, East Side of the River Aire presents a strong marketplace for residential development. Already lots of high quality residential schemes have been completed here. Furthermore, there are allocations for at least a further 2,000 units within Council policies; supported by infrastructure proposals to enhance green routes and spaces.
This area of the city provides significant opportunities for new housing investment, with capacity for upwards of 2,000 new homes by 2028. Well connected to the wider city centre and South Bank via the waterside. A number of schemes are in the planning pipeline with starts on site anticipated over the next couple of years.
