Investment Opportunity In The Leeds SouthBank Development

Written on .

One of the most ambitious of the redevelopment projects currently helping to regenerate Leeds is the SouthBank development programme. An investment opportunity from the Leeds SouthBank development project which will be led by CEG. This project will double the size of Leeds city centre and create a vibrant living and working environment, bringing with it a fantastic opportunity for investors.

Grand Plans Aids Investment In Leeds SouthBank Development

Once complete the South Bank district will comprise 8,000 new homes, 130,000 square metres of office, retail, leisure, hotel, education, health and community space, public spaces and parking. Working alongside award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios), the area will feature stunning new buildings while keeping its historic character alive.

    Revitalising Heritage

The South Bank was at the heart of the industrial revolution and plans for the area will breathe new life into the 30 listed buildings there, many of them derelict. The unique historic architecture of the South Bank includes the Temple Works, Marshall’s Mill, Giotto Towers, Hunslet Mill, Victoria Works and Round Foundry. The two-story façade of the printworks will be retained as a special feature to compliment the area’s aesthetic while the building itself will house Leeds City College’s digital technologies department.

    Community Focus

The creation of a new South Bank community is at the heart of this project. The development will bring new public spaces to live, socialise and play. There will also be special routes throughout the area for pedestrians and cyclists. These new travel plans include segregated paths and cycle lanes. As well as the creation of connections between the South Bank and other local communities.

It is envisaged that South Bank will be a green, peaceful centre of calm in Leeds. Situated on the waterfront plans to protect the area from flooding are underway. Including the construction of a Flood Alleviation Scheme, creating public spaces to store additional water. Also roofs on buildings that absorb rain water.

Economic Boost From Leeds South Bank Development Project

The South Bank project will create 35,000 new jobs. Many international companies already have plans to move to the area. This is including Burberry who could be moving their production facility from Castleford to the South Bank.

The district is in close proximity to Leeds rail station. Connected to this will be the new HS2 station. Consequently, this will make travel to the rest of the country quick and easy. It is hoped that Leeds will become a key European destination. Thanks to the major regeneration the city is experiencing.
