Leeds Southbank Redevelopment and Property Investment

    Senior Leeds City councillors have signed off on £350 million plans to redevelop an area of old warehouses into a new and vibrant community which will include a 142-metre, 40-storey block in the centre of the Southbank region. Once complete, Leeds Southbank redevelopment will bring property investment opportunities as this skyscraper will be the tallest building in Leeds, towering high above Bridgewater Place.

    From Shabby to Chic

    As well as the new skyscraper, Commercial Estates Group (CEG) will also be redeveloping an area of land. The land will be as big as three football pitches and consequently, will double the size of the city centre. Derelict buildings around Globe Road and Water Lane in Holbeck will be demolished . In their place apartments, houses, commercial and retail outlets and leisure facilities will be constructed. Including the award-winning Kirkstall Forge development.

    CEG’s head of strategic development, David Hodgson, has said the plans will “revitalise the area and reconnect local communities to the city.”

    Preserving History Aids Southbank Redevelopment and Property Investments

    Buildings will be preserved as part of the project as they are of particular historical interest in the Southbank area. Such as the Printworks and the grade II listed Holbeck footbridge. Once complete, the new Southbank area will display a stunning mix of old and modern architecture. This will reflect Leeds’s transformation to a modern, internationally-facing city. The Leeds Southbank redevelopment will attract new property investment due to the transformation.
