Transformative Investment for Manchester’s Victoria North

The impressive Victoria North regeneration in Manchester has received a major boost, with £1.5 million secured from Labour’s New Towns programme to advance plans for a new Metrolink tram stop at Sandhills.
A collaboration between developer FEC and Manchester City Council, the £4 billion initiative aims to revitalise North Manchester by delivering 15,000 new homes over the next two decades. Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, described the project as “one of the most ambitious urban regeneration programmes in Europe”.

Improved Transport Links to Enhance Connectivity

The upcoming Sandhills tram stop is set to improve transport connections for North Manchester communities, providing easier access to key employment hubs. Located along the Metrolink route before it splits towards Bury in the west and Oldham and Rochdale in the east, the stop has backing from Transport for Greater Manchester, Homes England, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and Mayor Andy Burnham, who view it as a catalyst for further investment in the area.

Creating Connected and Sustainable Neighbourhoods

The Victoria North development framework, outlined by the council last summer, prioritises affordable housing, including replacement council homes and support for existing homeowners. Construction on the first phase is already underway, with 244 homes being delivered in Collyhurst Village and an additional 30 social rented homes in South Collyhurst. These are set to be completed by 2026.

Spanning nearly 400 acres from Victoria Station to Queen’s Park, the Victoria North masterplan envisions seven interconnected neighbourhoods with improved green spaces and enhanced access to the River Irk. The new tram stop is expected to reintegrate historically disadvantaged communities, encouraging economic growth and accessibility.

Councillor Craig stressed the importance of transport investment in unlocking further regeneration.

Red Bank Riverside: A Key Phase in Victoria North

Red Bank Riverside is the newest phase of the £4 billion regeneration scheme in Manchester, Victoria North – which is the largest scheme in the North of England, offering over 15,000 new homes set over 400 acres of land. Red Bank Riverside will create a unique neighbourhood in the North-East of the city centre. Located moments from the thriving centre of Manchester, this stunning development offers an abundance of top-quality on-site amenities, as well as 46 hectacres of new parkland.

For those looking to secure high returns, Redbank Riverside is the ideal development to explore.

Conclusion

With strong financial backing and government support, Victoria North is on track to become a transformative regeneration project for North Manchester. The introduction of a new Metrolink stop, alongside new housing and infrastructure, will create a well-connected, sustainable, and thriving community. As the project progresses, improved transport links and urban renewal will play a key role in shaping Manchester’s future.
