While many properties in the UK are purchased with cash, it is a perfectly normal option to buy with a mortgage instead. There are many benefits to doing so and plenty of homebuyers and investors prefer the increased flexibility a mortgage purchase gives them.

If you are planning to get a mortgage for your purchase, the mortgage broker will request the following information:

  • Details of the property you plan to buy
  • Photo ID for all purchasers
  • Proof of address for all purchasers
  • Proof of funds, including deposit

If you decide to go ahead and purchase with a mortgage, you will need to arrange a mortgage in principle with your broker. As completion approaches, you will then need to obtain the full mortgage in order to proceed with the final aftersales process.
