Manchester has been named as the UK’s best connected city, in a recent report from Transport for Wales. The report ranked 30 UK cities on a number of factors to assess how well connected they really are. These included 5G coverage, full fibre availability,  train stations per capita, and bus stops per capita.

Connection Criteria

Manchester has 1.96 train stops per capita, 93.66 bus stops per capita, and 45.9% of coverage for fibre. This works out as two train stations per 10k of the population. The city also boasts 99% coverage for 5G, ensuring that residents and visitors can stay connected in more ways than one.

Manchester As A Connected City

Why Manchester has achieved this moniker is a no-brainer – thousands of people flock from all over the world to study, work, and play in this unique and vibrant city. With a constant influx of people, the need for well-connected transport links and good internet and call connections naturally followed. This acknowledgement and achievement highlights what a truly fantastic city Manchester is – for tenants and investors alike.

Whether to live here on a permanent or semi-permanent basis or just visiting, people are pulled in by all the fantastic things Manchester has to offer. Manchester City and Manchester United draw thousands of fans to every home game. Theatres, music halls, and more have something to offer denizens every single night. The city has also been noted for its growing culinary scene, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. For those into nature and the outdoors, Manchester has all of that just a short distance away, with the Peak District easily accessible via public transport or car.

It is also home to some of the best universities in the UK and even Europe. The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Salford attract over a hundred thousand students each year. A large proportion of these students come from all over the UK and even abroad, highlighting the pressing need for strong transport and data connections.

Connected Manchester As A Top Investment City

Manchester’s ranking as the UK’s best connected city comes as no surprise, as this unique industrial city has established itself as an investment and business hotspot. The job and business market is extremely robust, with 124,000 businesses in the Manchester region to date. This figure is expected to rise as Manchester’s economy continues to flourish.

This growth has attracted investors from across the globe, with Manchester being a top city for foreign investors. The economy is predicted to experience an annual growth of 2.5% from 2024 to 2026. In last year alone, the Greater Manchester area saw a rise of 18% in greenfield projects.

This economic and population hustle and bustle has made the city a fantastic investment spot for property investors as well, with more and more developments being built and planned to meet the growing demand for high quality housing.
